Uncharted 2: among the thieves, uncharted 3: the deception of Drake, _ and _The last of us all have benefited from their last days in the sun to play online on PlayStation 3, the servers of the three games having closed their servers today.
Some may still be, but Sony confirmed several months ago that the servers would be closed at the beginning of September and that the month of August would be the deadline for players to benefit from these games on PS3 in line.
This is a recent trend at Sony, which begins to gradually reduce the number of games in the PS3 library that can still play online, at least their own control. All this is probably in preparation for the launch of Next-Gen and the team who wants to associate PS3-related services before launching another set of NEXT-GEN servers.
The Naughty Dog trilogy that is ending means that the online game for Uncharted 2 and 3 can not be played legally. The uncharted: the Nathan Drake collection never had online game modes to start, then it’s the end of this experience.
The port of Playstation 4 The last of us has multiplayer, so it can always be appreciated by fans who want to come back.
Sony has the very bad habit to stop the servers for games that do not cause problems. Of course, they use a lot of resources, but for some fans, the moment is ideal for coming from time to time with friends. From Gravity Rush 2 and now, for these classics, no game is safe from the hand that deactivates Sony.
All games with online components will end up closing to give way to new titles, but it’s always sad to see some media being lost for history because the servers are about to never reopen.
